Colors // my color preferences

Hey Babes!

I can’t believe it’s already August! These next two weeks are going to really keep me busy.

I have to move out of my apartment, pack for my back to back trips to the Caribbean and California, and take a final to end the summer semester. I’m overwhelmed just thinking about all of it, but the good news is that somehow I’m still finding time to write posts for my blog.

As I was separating clothing for my move and my vacation, I realized one of the make or break factors was the color. Everybody has colors they like to wear more than others, whether it’s because of their skin tone, hair color, or simply because they just don’t like the color in general.

I’m going to share with you guys which colors I personally like and don’t like to wear. Since I was blonde for so long and wasn’t ever planning on changing, my preferences are mostly based on blonde me. I’m still figuring out what colors look best with my silver hair, and surprisingly a lot of them are the same, just different shades.

Colors I Like:

  1. Black

In my opinion, everyone looks good in black. Not only does everyone look good in it, but it also gives a slimming effect, which is one of my favorite reasons to wear it.

I also like wearing black because it goes with pretty much any color, and if the shades match, all black outfits look fierce. It’s just a classic color that I think everyone should have in their wardrobe.

The only downside is that black absorbs heat, so it’s not the best thing to wear on a 90 degree day.

  1. Red

When I was blonde, red, especially a vibrant red, looked really good against my hair, and wearing a red dress really made me stand out in a crowd. However, even after I went silver, I’ve found that I still really like the way red looks on me.

I think it has a lot to do with my skin color, because it’s more on the tan side. Although I still like wearing red, I think wearing it with silver hair gives me a different look than it did with blonde hair.

But, I do think dark maroon looks a lot better on me now than it did on blonde me, so I have been wearing that a lot more. I just have to make sure I don’t look like too much of a vampire.

  1. Pink

Pink is my favorite color in general, and wearing it makes me feel really cute and feminine. Like red, I feel like wearing pink now gives me a different look than it did when I was blonde.

Wearing hot pink when you have platinum blonde hair makes you look like a Barbie, not as much with silver hair.

I love the light pink shade that’s in right now, and I think it looks even better on me now than when I was blonde.

Colors I Dislike:

  1. Yellow

I always thought wearing a lot of yellow was too much with my blonde hair, and I’m still not the biggest fan of a piece when yellow is the main color.

I just think it’s too bright and I don’t like the way it looks. However I do sometimes like pale yellow, and yellow on certain accessories, just not clothing.

  1. Orange

Ok so my reason for not liking Orange might be a little biased since the colors of our biggest rival school, the University of Florida, are blue and orange.

But still, like yellow, I just don’t like the way bright orange looks on clothing. I also don’t like the way it looks on my skin since it has some orange undertones to it, I do think burnt orange is really pretty though.

My closet definitely reflects my color preferences. I hardly have anything that has orange or yellow as the dominant color, and if I do I never wear it.

Like I said before, everyone has their favorite and least favorite colors when it comes to clothing, let me know what yours are in the comments!

dress well. eat well. live well.
