After a busy couple of weeks, I am finally back in Tallahassee just in time for my fall semester to start.
As a college student, I am always looking for the best bargains I can get. Since Tallahassee has three colleges, including mine, there are always specials and discounts catered to students. All you need is to show a student ID to get a certain percentage off your purchase or a free extra or entry.
Even thought they may be advertised more, student discounts aren’t just limited to college towns. There are plenty of places all over that give a discount when presenting a student ID.
In my last post, I highlighted Francesca’s student discount of 10% off your purchase, and that inspiried me to make a list of other places that also have student discounts.
You may be surprised at some of the places that offer a discount to students, because it is not always advertised.
Whether you’re going into your freshman year or your senior year, these discounts are definetly something to take advantage of as a student.
Amazon – Free trail of Amazon Prime for six months and reduced price on an Amazon Prime membership. Great for textbooks!
Apple – College students can get up to $250 off of apple products
Banana Republic – 15% off purchase with student ID (full priced items only)
Best Buy – Reduced prices on computers, software, and other various items when you sign up for a student account
Brooks Brothers – 15% off purchase with student ID or college acceptance letter
Goodwill – 10% off purchase with student ID on certain days (varies by location)
J. Crew – 15% off in store purchases with a student id
Jo Ann – sign up for the student discount program and get 10% off each purchase
Kate Spade – 15% off entire in-store purchase with a student ID
Sally Beauty Supply – Sign up for a Student Savings card and get a discount on purchases and emails with coupons
The Limited – 15% off entire in-store purchase with a student ID
Vineyard Vines -15% off purchase in stores with a student ID
This is a pretty good selection of places that offer student discounts, but the selection widens when you sign up for sites such as UNiDAYS and Student Beans. You can get many exclusive offers that you can’t get by just going to the store itself. Some of these retailers include TOPSHOP, Urban Outfitters, ModCloth, H&M, and TOMS.
The offers on these networks are always being updated and some of them even expire, so don’t hesitate to take advantage of a deal when you see it. Also, with sites like Unidays, the discounts work online, so physical location is not a problem, unlike most of the discounts through retailers themselves.
I should really practice what I preach because I hardly ever use student discounts, mainly because I always forget they’re there. I’m making it my goal of the semester to see if there’s a student discount whenever I need to shop for something. I need to take full advantage of being a student before I graduate!
