Hairstyles // the half bun

Hey Babes,

Pumpkins, bonfires, knee socks, and beanies are just a few of my favorite fall things. A change in seasons doesn’t just mean a change in aesthetics and fashion, but a change in hairstyles too!

I love the top knot and messy bun, especially during the summer when I want to get all of my hair up to feel cooler, but fall and winter is the perfect time to plug in the straightener or rock tight curls. Well, it is unless you’re in Florida the humidity makes it feel like it’s 20 degrees warmer than it actually is, but that’s another topic.

Speaking of humidity, there’s one particular hair style that is really hot right now for the incoming cooler weather. It started making it’s way to the spotlight last fall, and from what I’ve seen, this fall it’s really prevalent. It’s the half bun!

The half bun is the perfect median between wearing your hair down and a normal bun, and it’s really easy to do. It might be a little harder if your hair is really long, really short, or layered, but there’s ways to get around it such as multiple pony tails or bobby pins.

First, gather the amount of hair you want to use for the bun. If you want to go for the messy look, you can use your hands, or if you want a slick put together look, you can use a bush.

Once you have all the hair you want for the bun, create a spiral and put a pony tail around it. If you have long and/or thick hair, or you just want your bun to feel more secure, you can create a pony tail first, and then use a second hair elastic or bobby pins to create the bun. Another option is to tease the top half to give it more volume.

The bun can be at the crown of your head or on the top like a top knot, and with the bottom half, you can leave it natural, or straighten it, curl it, crimp it, or make it wavy. It’s totally up to you to how you want your personal style to shine through your hair. Super easy right?

I was always iffy about doing a half bun when I was blonde because my dark roots created an awful contrast, but since silver and brown isn’t as bad of a mix, I’ll be more open to it now.

By the way, according to WordPress I have reached 300 followers, which is really exciting for me! So I want to thank every babe who has read, liked, commented on, or followed my posts, it means so much.

If you have anything about style that you want me to cover, suggest it in the comments and I’ll definitely consider it.

Thanks again for all the support babes!

dress well. eat well. live well.
