Trends // three spring 2017 trends your closet needs

Hey Babes!

The official first day of spring is still a month away, but retailers are wasting no time making room for their spring inventory. Plus, spring Break is only 14 days away according to the countdown on my roommate’s door.
These next couple weeks of transition are prime for putting up your long sleeves and rounding up a collection of tanks, shorts, and sun dresses.

There’s SO many trends to look forward to this upcoming season, and I’ve listed my top three faves so far.

Embroidery Embellishments

Embroidered jeans have made a comeback, and you’re going to be seeing a lot more of it this spring, and not just on denim. Embroidered patterns on other common textiles, like cotton, are going to be really popular too.
The pieces I’ve personally seen so far are embroidered with floral and caligraphy looking lines that give off a romantic feel, which, spoiler alert, is a major spring 2017 theme.

The white and blue shades in these embroidered shorts from Francesca’s lightweight and light colors, making them perfect for the warmer days ahead. I paired them with a white tank and gray cardigan for a soft spring look.

The only thing that makes me nervous is the white base because somehow no matter what i tend to always spill coffee on myself. This specific piece definetly isn’t something you would want to wear to the park or the beach. That being said, there’s so many cute non-white embroidered pieces you can find that would be great for a day at a park or the beach.

For some reason, this trend reminds me so much of a chic hippie from the 60’s and 70’s, and I think that’s why I love it so much. I could totally see Jackie on That 70’s Show wearing it for days.

Paint It Floral

I feel like it’s a given that spring time is also flower time; I can’t think of a year when floral wasn’t in for spring. Also, florals in general are just a classic, you’ll never hear someone say “what is she doing in floral? That is so 2006.”

But the difference between current florals and past florals is that these florals are more graphic and have a canvas painted feel to them.
This pastel floral top from francesca’s has not only the graphic florals I just mentioned, but it’s off the shoulder and a pretty pink: trends that we’re already pretty familiar with but are still going to be hot hot hot this spring and summer season. Wearing this top with high rise skinny jeans is perfect because it balances out the flowiness.

I always feel so happy and refreshed when I start to see the floral prints come out because the dark colors of fall and winter, and the cold, are pretty depressing. As a Florida girl who has always favored summer, the lighter color schemes are exciting and fill me with good energy.

Caps Off To Dad

What more could you want than a trend that gives you both style and skin protection? Like florals, hats are always in for spring and summer, but the Dad Cap is definetly the hottest hat on the maket right now, especially suede ones. This trend has some truth behind it’s name too; my own dad’s collection of hats proves it.

Dad Caps are a definite must have for spring, especially if your skin is extra sun sensitive because wearing one shades your face from sunrays and keeps you cool.

Wearing a hat like this always makes me feel a little more adventurous, even if I’m just driving to the grocery store. I’m obsessed with this brown suede one, which I decided to wear with a floral crop top and skinny jeans, but you can find them in every color of the rainbow, and then some.

These are only three of the trends we’ll see in spring 2017, there’s a lot more where they came from. I can’t wait to explore the rest of the trends from my favorite seasons!

dress well. eat well. live well.
