Boy, it seems like the holidays never end. It’s always one after another, not counting the fun “National Cupcake Days” everyone posts about (are those even real?). With another holiday, comes another festivity, and whether you’re festive or not, you might want to celebrate this one, because if you don’t wear green it might hurt, literally. That’s right, I’m talking about St. Patrick’s Day, the greenest holiday in March, and well, the greenest holiday ever.
Everyone knows that if you don’t wear green on St. Patty’s Day you get pinched, and there’s always that one person that says “the leaf on your shirt doesn’t count”, and pinches you anyway. I of all people know it can be hard to find something cute in that perfect bright green color, so here’s five ways to style a basic green tee so that you look stylish while guzzling all the beer your stomach can handle.
Even though you’re wearing denim, it doesn’t have to be “jeans and a t-shirt” kind of boring. There’s plenty of cute denim pieces out there that will look great with a plain v-neck, no matter the color, because denim goes with everything. For example, a button down skirt, or bell bottom jeans.
When you tuck a green tee into either one of these pieces it looks fantastic, especially with brown wedges. But, you might not want to go the heel route if you’re going to do a lot of walking, and you especially might not want to go the heel route if there’s going to be a lot of alcohol involved.
2. Knot it
If you keep up with my blog, you’re probably tired of hearing about “the knot.” Sorry, not sorry. I’m obsessed with it at the moment. In my opinion, the knot is a great way to add instant style to any existing t-shirt. Sometimes though, the knot can look a little weird if the shirt is not long enough or loose enough, which is why I bought this shirt in an XL size. This knotted tee looks great paired with the bell bottoms and heels from above, and it gives it a different look than when it was tucked in. Don’t be afraid to show a little bit of skin either, it’s sexy!
3. Go Grunge
You can always go for a certain look: bohemian, preppy, and in this case, grunge. All I did for this look was tie one of my blue and red flannels around my waist. To top it off, I added a choker and my Doc Martens. With a look like this, you’ll be stylish, and you’ll scare off jerks that will want to pinch you no matter what. Aeropostale usually has a great selection of flannels, which is where I got mine, but Eddie Bauer also has really cute ones!
4. White Denim
White goes with everything, so why not a basic green tee? These distressed white skinnies from Charlotte Russe really bring out the green color and will make you stand out in a crowd. There’s non-distressed white pants too, but I really think the holes give it a little something extra.
You have to be careful though, because white gets dirty easily. You don’t want to be walking around with a big dirt or beer stain all day. So cute, but so risky.
5. Festive Gear
When in doubt, just throw on some festive party gear! It’s fun, and it will make you look like you are the life of the party. When I was younger, I would always be so embarrassed to wear stuff like this, but now, I think it’s a fun, exciting way to celebrate. Around this time, you can find headbands and things at a lot of places, but the party store or a costume shop is probably your best bet. Although, I got these buttons and a leprechaun hat at target for only eight dollars total! The nice thing about these items is that you can pair them with any of the looks above for a super stylish look. I chose my favorite: the bell bottoms, knotted shirt, and wedges.
I can’t believe it’s already the middle of March! Time sure does fly. I hope this post gave you some outfit inspiration on what to wear for the big green day on Saturday. Take care Babes!
