Hey Babes!
Fall is officially in the air, and I’m super excited for this week especially because it’s my birth week! I’m excited for my birthday, but I’m not excited about turning 24, I’m going to feel super old, yikes! But enough about that, let’s get to what this post is really about: beauty. For my beauty posts, I usually do reviews, but this month, I decided to try something different and give my beautiful mom a makeover. I don’t usually do makeup on other people, but I thought it would be fun to give it a go, so, let’s get to it.
Face
To start, I’m going to use the Benefit POREfessional primer and apply it all over the face. I love this primer because it blurs pores and my mom and I both have huge ones! I also really like the texture of this primer and it feels light on the face. You can get it at here.
Next, I used a Beautyblender to apply the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea foundation in shade Tan Sand. I personally have never used this product on myself but just from applying it on my mom I can tell you that it was really watery. However, it goes on nicely and blends well and my mom was amazed by the coverage.
After that, I applied the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea concealer in a triangle shape on my mom’s under eyes, as well as her nose, forehead, and chin, and blended it out with a Beautyblender. This is another product I haven’t used on myself, but it was really easy to apply and blended nicely into the foundation.
After the concealer, I baked my mom’s face using the Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Baking and Setting Powder in the color Pound Cake. This product is… strange. When you open it up, there is a little cotton pad that is perforated, and you have to press down on it to get the powder out. I don’t recommend pressing a damp Beautyblender right on the pad, I did that and it was hard to get product out. Instead, pour some into the cap and go from there. Anyway, after I poured some powder into the cap, I took a damp Beautyblender and placed the powder everywhere that I put the concealer. After ten minutes, I brushed it off with this Real Techniques blush brush. If you want to know more about baking, you can check out my post here.
Then it was time for contouring, blush, and highlighting. For contour, I used the shade Subconscious in Kat Von D’s Shade + Light palette. I applied it with the contour brush from the Tarte Pretty Things and Fairy Wings brush set, which you can get here.
For blush, I used the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush and applied it with a Bare Minerals brush.
For highlight, I used my favorite: Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop and applied it with the highlighting brush from Tarte’s Minutes to Mermaid brush set. If you want the DL on these brushes, you can read my review here.
Then, I set my mom’s entire face with the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder using the Real Techniques blush brush.
For eyeshadow, I let my mom pick what eyeshadow palette she wanted me to use , and she picked the Norvina palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills. So first, I primed her lids with Urban Decay’s Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion and placed the shade “Base” all over the lid using a fluff brush.
Secondly, I put the shade “Soul” into the crease using the Sephora Collection PRO Tapered Crease Brush (#19).
Next, I used the same brush to put “Celestial” into the crease as well.
Lastly, I placed “Drama” in the inner corner, crease, and under the eye with the brush from Urban Decay’s Naked 3 palette.
Then it was time for the finishing touches: eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick. For eyeliner I used Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner for the top lid, and her Lash Liner for the waterline.
For mascara, I used Too Faced’s Better Than Sex mascara, and for the lips I used Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in shade “Bow N Arrow”.
And last, but definitely not least, I set everything with the All Nighter Pollution Protection setting spray by Urban Decay.
Ta-da! the look is complete!
