NYE // five fun dresses for your new year’s eve plans

Hey Babes!

I hope you all had a merry merry Christmas! I had so much fun in South Bend, Indiana visiting my grandmother, uncle, aunt, sister, and one of my cousins. Everyone loved my dog Frank, and we had a good time playing games, eating, drinking lemon slush, and just enjoying each other’s company.

Now that Christmas day has passed, it’s time to get ready to ring in the New Year. I can’t believe there’s only two days left of 2018, and then we’ll be saying hello to 2019! When I think of NYE, I think of sparkles, glitter, and sequins. This December 31st, I’m planning to wear my college graduation dress, which, in my opinion, is perfect for the occasion. It’s a silver Michael Kors sequined dress with fluted sleeves. I paired it with a pair of black heels with silver detailing that I found at the BCBG outlet, I felt so fabulous!

This dress can be found at Macy’s, and although it’s currently 40% off, it’s still a little pricey at $135. But, I think this is a great New Year’s dress because it’s sparkly and makes a statement. With this dress, you’ll definitely be starting off the new year right. If this particular dress doesn’t quite suit you, and you’re still looking for a dress to wear this New Year’s Eve, keep reading for more options.

Light Up The Night Champagne Sequin Shift Dress – Lulus – $56

This dress is similar to the one above, except it is a champagne color, is a v-neck, and is short sleeved. I think the color of this piece is gorgeous, and it reminds me of my favorite highlighter: Champagne Pop by BECCA. It may be a little simple, but you can easily dress it up with a headband, earrings, or a bracelet. I don’t recommend a necklace because it will take away from the sequins, which are the main event. If this color doesn’t do it for you, this dress also comes in lavender or navy blue. However, sizes medium and large are sold out in champagne and lavender, and the size extra small is sold out in navy blue. So, if this suits you, you better hurry up and snag it while you can!

Multicolor Fringe Sequin Mini Dress – Forever 21 – $22.50

Looking for something bold and fun, but not too pricey? Then check out this multicolored fringe dress from Forever 21. To be honest, I’ve never seen a dress that was full on fringe, but it is super cute. And, if you like to dance, think about how much fun it will be twirling around in this on the dance floor all night. For NYE, I think this is a great option because it’s something different than just the silver sequins that a lot of other people are probably going to have (including me, ha). I’m getting all the unicorn vibes from this dress, which is totally a good thing. Like the first dress, this dress doesn’t need much added to it, and you don’t want to add too many accessories that will take away from the fringe, or look like too much, but, if you want, some simple, basic jewelry, like studs or a watch, would be perfect.

Charter Club Velvet A-Line Dress – Macy’s – $44.75

Do you have more of a simple style? Then you’ll probably love this black velvet dress from Macy’s. It’s a basic little black dress, but if dressed up with the right accessories, it can look amazing. I would suggest some silver jewelry, like a long necklace, some bracelets, and/or earrings. For shoes, you can wear black pumps, or boots. This is a really elegant look and it will look really good if you’re going to a higher end place for New Year’s Eve. It’s already 50% off at $44.75 (original price $89.50), but you can get an extra 15% off with code “JOY” on the Macy’s website.

Multicolor Sequin Jumpsuit – Express – $88.80

There’s no rule on NYE that says you HAVE to wear a dress, so why not stand out from the crowd in this sequined jumpsuit from Express? It’s fun, colorful, and you’ll have all eyes on you. The nice thing about jumpsuits is that they’re practically pants, so it’ll be really easy to move around in, and you don’t have to worry about a dress or skirt riding up. However, the down side to jumpsuits, and all other rompers and bodysuits, is that they can be a pain when you have to use the restroom. Other than that, this is a really fun garment, that’s great for almost any New Year’s Eve occasion. The good thing about this specific jumpsuit is that it has long, vertical, stripes, making your body look elongated. And, if you pair it with some black heels, you’ll look even more lengthy, if that’s what you want. If you want, you could also wear a black crop under the jumpsuit to give your outfit a more 90’s feel. Out of all the looks I’ve written about in this post so far, I think this one is my favorite. It’s different, colorful, and still has the sequins I long to wear when I think about an NYE outfit. Even though I absolutely LOVE what I’m going to be wearing on Monday night, I’ll probably be super jealous of you if you wear this.

Metallic Plisse Peplum Dress – Nordstrom – $85

Not everyone out there is a silver kind of person like me, a lot of people are more attracted to gold, and I don’t blame them, it’s such a luxurious color. In this metallic gold peplum dress from Nordstrom, you’ll be on fire! It’s cute, short, sassy, and something different from sequins and sparkles. I like the heels the model is wearing, but if it were me, I would wear something close-toed and that covers my entire foot. In my opinion, black is the best color when it comes to shoes because anything else won’t really match. Also, you will probably want to stay away from other gold jewelry if you wear a dress like this, because the shades are likely to clash.
