I love the sun. I love being in the sun, talking about the sun, and anything that has the sun symbol on it. I even have a tattoo of the sun on my upper back.
The sun is great and all, but it can be really harmful if you don’t take precautions. As I mentioned in my tanning post, I never do this, but whenever you’re going to be exposed to the sun, you want to make sure to wear sunscreen to protect yourself from getting burned by the UV rays. While sunscreen is really important, there’s another, more fashionable item you can wear for sun protection, and that item is a hat.
As you know, a lot of hats have a brim that will shade your face from the hot sun. There’s all kinds of hats, bucket hats, sun hats, fedoras, visors, beanies, and one of the biggest trends right now: baseball caps.
Baseball caps are an awesome spring/summer trend, because they can make the right outfit extra stylish while protecting you from the sun. Baseball caps used to just have team logos on them, or nothing at all. Now, the big thing is caps with cute sayings or a picture of some sort.
Altar’d State has a really good selection of them, like this faded red ‘Dog Mom’ hat that my sister got me for Christmas last year. The other day, I wore it to the gym with a plain white t-shirt tied in a knot and a pair of gray joggers with a ruffle down the side from Francesca’s (similar here).
One of my other favorite baseball caps is this one I bought from my old hair salon that says “Stay Cute” in cursive. It’s the same color as the Dog Mom one, so I think that it too would look good with colors like white and gray.
Baseball caps give your outfit a more sporty look, so it’s best to wear them with casual outfits like jeans and a tank or shorts and a shirt. My Stay Cute hat looks so good with a white pocket tee (similar here) tucked into my mom shorts from PacSun. I would wear this outfit to the grocery store, to a friend’s house, a doctor’s appointment, or to walk my dog.
