Trends // four swim trends for summer 2019

Hey Babes!

Can you believe it’s already June of 2019? With the first day of summer yesterday on the 23rd, you’re probably already planning all of your beach trips, pool days, and water park visits. And, you know what you need for all of those things? A bathing suit!

If you want to be one of the most fashionable ones on the beach this summer, check out this list of four swimsuit trends to keep in mind while shopping for the perfect suit.

 1. One Pieces

My mom is pretty conservative, so when I was growing up, I wasn’t allowed to wear an ‘itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini’ to events that required a bathing suit. If it was a two piece, it had to be a tankini, which is where the top half of your swim suit covers your entire stomach like a shirt.

I always saw one pieces as uncool and ugly, but now, they’re one of the top bathing suit trends. Can you believe that? I wish that was the case when I was a little girl. Bathing suit shopping would’ve been a lot easier, and I would’ve felt a lot better about myself.

I love this lime green one piece suit with a chain pattern on it from Downtown Divas. It may be a one piece, but it has a plunging deep v neckline that will make you feel sexy. It also came with a matching cover-up, so when you need to leave the pool area, you can be just as stylish.

Other one pieces I love are this one, this one, and this one.

2. Cut Outs

Wearing a one piece doesn’t have to leave you feeling like a nun. If you want to hop on the one piece trend, but still want to feel sexy, try going for a one piece with cutouts, which is another swimsuit trend for the spring/summer 2019 season. The cutouts can be on either side of your stomach, just on one side, in the middle of your stomach, or even on your chest.

When I went to the beach recently, I wore this super cute purple, pink, and black mixed print one piece from Downtown Divas. It has round cutouts on either side of the stomach area, and a deep v in the chest area.

The only thing I don’t like about this bathing suit is that it doesn’t have padding for your breasts but the way it makes me feel about myself when I wear it makes up for it. I feel awesome!

Like the first bathing suit from Downtown Divas, this one also came with a matching floor length cover up as well. Pairing it with an oversized sun hat, like the from Beall’s Outlet that I’m wearing in my pictures, makes you beach ready.

Other cute bathing suits with cutouts are this one, this one, and this one.

3. Animal Print

If you’ve been paying any attention to the trends lately, you’ll know that animal prints are IN, especially leopard and snakeskin. These prints aren’t just popular for clothes right now, but swim suits as well.

I just love, love, LOVE this pink snakeskin one piece from Shein. Snakeskin is one of my favorite trends right now, and this particular bathing suit just happens to be my favorite color. It also comes in a neon green black, neon red, and neon yellow, but I personally think that the pink one is the cutest, and not just because I love pink.

You can get this at Shein for $12 or Amazon for $18.99. However, it’s not eligible for Amazon Prime, so if you have a beach trip coming up, you may not get it in time.

Other awesome animal print swimsuits are this zebra print one piece from PacSun, this leopard print bikini from Forever 21, and this tiger print one piece from Victoria’s Secret.

4. Metallics

The fourth swimsuit trend I’m going to talk about today is an interesting one: metallics. I feel like metallic finishes have slowly been on the rise the past couple of years, and now that they’re on bathing suits, you’ll probably see a lot more of them.

In my opinion, metallic prints look really futuristic. Whenever I think of gold metallic, I think of Princess Leia’s gold bikini from Star Wars. You can find metallic swimsuits in one pieces, like this pink one from Victoria’s Secret, or separates, like this gold bikini on Amazon.

In high school, I bought a pink metallic bikini from American Apparel, and it’s a good thing I saved it, because it’s right on trend for summer 2019!
