I love to eat strawberry shortcakes, I used to make them myself by adding strawberries and whipped cream on top of little round shortcakes from Publix. They were really good, and in fact, I’m craving one right now!
But when I think of strawberry shortcakes, not only do I think of the delicious dessert, but I think of the character from my childhood, who was also named Strawberry Shortcake.
Strawberry Shortcake was founded in 1980, and quickly rose to high popularity, and eventually became a show. By the time the show came out, in 2010, I was a little too old for it, but I used to love the dolls and anything with her and/or her friends on them. The dolls were awesome because they were scented. Strawberry Shortcake smelled like, you guessed it, strawberries.
But, because this is a fashion blog, I’ve decided to recreate Strawberry Shortcake’s look into modern day fashion. Her style has been changed throughout the years, but below, is a picture of the outfit I remember.
To recreate this, I simply paired a pink strawberry graphic crop top from Romwe with some distressed skinny jeans from Charlotte Russe, and tied a green army jacket from Forever 21 around my waist. The final touches include a newsboy cap and a pair of classic Adidas Superstar sneakers, but you could also pair this look with some brown heels.
If Strawberry Shortcake was a millennial, I feel like she would look something like this. What do you think?
dress well. eat well. live well.
